Community programs
The Discovery Centre provides a number of education programs and workshops for the general community. Tours and workshops of the garden either in the garden bus or on foot are available.
Bus Tour of the Garden
Why not see the Botanic Garden in the comfort of our Bus! The bus tours take you around the Garden and the grounds of Gleniffer Brae Manor House in comfort with a commentary provided by one of our friendly staff. Bus tours last approximately one hour. This is an ideal option for a small group visiting the Garden as 5-10 people are needed to operate the tour.
$12 per person
$5.50 for pensioners
Walking Tour of the Garden
Weekdays only 8am to 3.30pm
Tours are booked per hour. Times determined in consultation with the customer and the Botanic Garden Office prior to completion of the booking form to ensure that tours are available when required.
Growing Plants by Leaps and Bound
Our five hour workshop in plant propagation program provides plenty of hands on experience with growing plants from seeds or cuttings. The course is available throughout the year according to group demand.
Bush Medicine Workshop
A mini 1.5 hour workshop on traditional bush remedies. Learn to treat a range of ailments like arthritis and rheumatism using local plants. The course runs throughout the year according to group demand. Well suited to speakers of English as a second language. Workshops run throughout the year according to group demand.
Holiday activities
Why not visit the Botanic Garden during the school Holidays! You’ll have lots of fun and learn about the environment at the same time.
$6 per child
$14 per family or three or more children
Parents and carers are free
No Bookings needed. Children must be accompanied by adults.
Tea, coffee, sausage sizzle and soft drinks are on sale during the school holiday activities, courtesy of the Friends of Wollongong Botanic Garden and the Lions Club.
