Wollongong Botanic Garden
The Wollongong Botanic Garden is host to an impressive array of exotic, adaptable and flowering plant life from Australia, and around the world.
The Botanic Gardens were established in 1970. The garden hosts a broad range of exotic and local indigenous plants.
A number of natural areas throughout Wollongong are managed by the Botanic Garden due to their environmental significance. These include Puckeys Estate; Fairy Meadow; Mt Keira Summit Park; and Korrongulla Wetlands, Primbee.
When visiting the Wollongong Botanic Garden please enjoy your stay and make the most of the beautiful surroundings. Feel free to ask staff about plants, services and programs at the Garden.
The gardens have an excellent network of paths for accessing most of the Garden. There are also many areas in the Garden where getting off the beaten track to experience the true beauty of the gardens is encouraged. However, we ask that you do not walk through garden beds.
To ensure that all visitors have an enjoyable time at the Garden, we ask that no roller blades, bikes, scoters, skateboards or any other vehicles are used within the Garden.
The following activities are also prohibited: littering, ball games, gas or fire BBQ’s, camping, the consumption of alcohol, pets and the handling flora and fauna within the Garden.
Much more than a place of tranquil beauty, Wollongong Botanic Garden is the venue for an exciting array of activities and experiences. Activities range from guided walks to places of interest, through to band recitals, theatrical entertainment and starlight cinema screenings. Many environmental community participation activities are also scheduled at the garden throughout the year.
